The Trek of Triumph: 100k Adventure Ready Cape to Cape, March 2024
Amidst the untamed beauty of the Cape to Cape Trail in Western Australia, our intrepid group of Women’s Fitness Adventurers embarked on a journey that would test their mettle. This triumphant trek was the culmination of the Adventure Ready 100km Hiking Program which empowered the team to conquer 126 kilometres of sandy beaches, rugged coastline and dense forests.
Ten members of our Women’s Fitness Adventures CREW set out with their trusty CREW Leader, Jane, fueled by determination and an indomitable spirit. Friendship and camaraderie were quickly formed, and soon each member had their own unique nickname, reflecting their character and resilience.
Despite the long days and sometimes challenging terrain, the CREW found support in each other’s company and the beauty of the wilderness. Recovery swims in the ocean rejuvenated weary bodies, while laughter and friendship filled the nights at the central accommodation.
As the trail unfolded revealing breathtaking vistas of shimmering oceans, majestic sand dunes, and some of the region’s most iconic wildlife, the challenges of the trek gave way to treats and surprises that rewarded our stellar efforts. Every step brought us closer to our goal, and strengthened our connection as women who can take an adventurous leap and achieve our dreams.
One of the many treasures discovered on the Cape to Cape trail was an invitation to visit a sacred Indigenous Women’s area, to listen to stories that resonated with the ancient soul of the land. It was a silent and profound experience, etching itself into the memories of all who walked there.
Another day, homemade scones and warm beverages found us as a delightful surprise to fuel both body and soul. Of course, no visit to the Margaret River is complete without a little indulgence at some of Australia’s best wineries and vineyards.
Finally, after days of hiking, the end was in sight: the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse – where the exotic Indian Ocean meets the moody Southern Ocean – at the very edge of our vast continent. The CREW embraced the final point together, as one.
Every adventurer felt their triumph deep in themselves, also as part of something bigger – a community of women who had made it along one of Australia’s most enduring trails together – as friends, as a team. Champagne flowed, laughter echoed, and the revelry carried on from the trail to the comfort of the Celebration Dinner.
What a triumphant week it had been! A week filled with challenges, achievements, beauty, and newfound friendships. The 100km Adventure Ready Program was truly transforming. The hybrid program of 6 months of online training, complete with the in-person adventure, equipped everyone with the skills and confidence to go out and embark on an epic journey, making memories and friendships to last a lifetime.
