Kate, Sue and Virginia are three amazing members whose close-knit bond has blossomed within the Women’s Fitness Adventures community, through fun, friendships, fitness, and travel.
They each joined the Women’s Fitness Adventures CREW looking to embark on new adventures where they could enjoy fitness and the outdoors while meeting new friends. They didn’t know each other, in fact, they knew no one coming into their first social walks!
Virginia saw Women’s Fitness Adventures on TV one Saturday afternoon and thought it looked interesting, so she joined a Friday Night walk “I loved the camaraderie and encouragement provided to everyone regardless of fitness ability and joined pretty quickly,” she said. At the time she was still working, but thinking about how she would like to spend her upcoming retirement. Virginia planned to make the most of this chapter of her life, which she hoped would be filled with fun, friendships, fitness and travel.
Sue joined after seeing Women’s Fitness Adventures on her Facebook feed. She was seeking walking buddies after her husband passed away, and found them immediately, booking on to the very next Friday social walk.
Kate was looking to move outside her comfort zone so jumped right in, hoping to find something new to focus on in the outdoors. Her husband had also passed away, and with some encouragement from her daughter, she signed up on a multi-day adventure to Cinque Terre upon joining. That was over 6 years ago now! Kate thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, finding the pre-adventure training really helped her confidence.
Since joining Women’s Fitness Adventures, all three women have found their membership is about more than just hiking. They’ve found benefits they never expected, and their personal goals reaching new great heights they hadn’t dreamed of. Sue has even noticed that she is now more willing to socialise on her own, having found the community a safe and welcoming place that has boosted her confidence on and off the trail.
Each of these three remarkable women has shared that their achievements have not only been the fitness and adventures they have embarked on, but the friendships they have made with each other, and within the community.
“I certainly have made many new friends but Kate and Virginia are most definitely very close friends now. We regularly catch up socially, as well as schedule some walks and hikes together. We became good friends on our Cinque Terre trip in 2018 along with Deb, and the friendship has grown since then.” Sue tells us.
Kate adds: “Forming new friendships through Women’s Fitness Adventures has definitely been a highlight. Sue, Virginia and Debra – we have a lifetime special friendship.”
Virginia agrees: “I love the friendships that have formed through being a member of Women’s Fitness Adventures, in particular through meeting Sue, Kate and Deb.”
Next on the cards for these best friends, includes travelling together to the Enchanting Corsica Fitness Adventure in October 2024, and then continuing on their adventure together with a river cruise from Spain to Portugal, a visit to Paris, and a stopover in Singapore. What wonderful experiences to share together!
They’re well on track with their Adventure training, adding in some extra weekend hikes together around lovely Stanthorpe, in addition to the prescribed training regimen from Yvonne. They’re also making sure they’re well-fueled for adventures, catching up at least monthly for a meal.

This beautiful friendship has opened so many doors for Virginia, Kate and Sue, not only for fitness and adventure, but socially as well. Friendship is truly invaluable at any stage of life, and these three women have resounding encouragement to anyone thinking about joining.
Virginia: “I encourage all women who express an interest in my WFA membership to just go along and give it a try. Walking is easy! We do it every day. Importantly for many women, there is simply no judgement about body shape, fitness or activity, but rather encouragement to maintain functional fitness for life.”
Sue: “If someone was considering joining WFA, I would certainly encourage them to do so and have in the past. I am very happy I joined and am thrilled that the friendships I have made with Kate and Virginia (and Deb) will be life long.”
Kate: “My advice to anyone considering joining, do not hesitate, there is an adventure just waiting for you so glad I joined this group – best thing I’ve ever done, it’s changed my life for the better.”
