2020 was a year full of different adventures
Looking Back – The year that was Women’s Fitness Adventures
I think we can all breathe a collective sigh as we see the end of 2020.
Whilst 2021 may be more of the same, there is hope and there is promise, and that can put a spring in anyones step.
It’s been a BIG year, in so many ways. And as we reflect on the year that was, there’s also many things we can celebrate.
We commenced January with our Welcome to Hiking and Introductory Hiking Bundles. We welcomed many new members who began or continued their hiking journey.
February saw the devastating effects of the Australian bushfires and we cancelled our Light to Lighthouse Adventure due to the National Park being completely burnt out. Several members of our group did manage to get away on a Port Stephens Fitness Adventure.
In March, the world as we knew it, fell apart. It was hard to know whether things, daily activities, would be on or not, so we made the difficult decision to suspend all of our local adventures. Then about a week later, Australia shut down.
We also made the reluctant but ONLY decision, to postpone all of our domestic and international multi day adventures. It was a VERY DIFFICULT DAY.
From March to May, we got fully online and embraced new technology. We discovered our own backyard and each others lives through conversation, including our Online Adventure/Travel book club.
We added in “on demand” Functional Fitness Exercise videos and tweaked our membership to give women from all over Australia and the world, the opportunity to be part of our wonderful Women’s Fitness Adventures Community.
As we emerged from shutdown, slowly the in person adventures were added back to the website and we managed to get away on SIX Queensland Adventures across a 10 week period.
It was fun and SO GREAT TO BE BACK.
And now, here we are, at the end of December 2020.
Throughout all of this, the team of Melissa, Tricia, Jane and I, along with Jan in the office, have been buoyed by the support and encouragement of all of our members and their commitment not only to there health and fitness, but to the entire Women’s Fitness Adventures community.
Our wonderful C.R.E.W Leaders have stepped up where it matters and for that I am forever grateful.
BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING of 2020
- is that all of our members remained well and safe
- that their loved ones remained well and safe
- that our members acted with integrity and honour
- and our members showed what it means to be a part of the Women’s Fitness Adventures community
So here is to 2020. May there NEVER be another year like it.
