Friendships On and Off The Trail – Maree’s Story

Friendship On and Off The Trails - Maree's Member Story blog cover picture on a mountain peak with two thumbs up

In search of an outdoor fitness community after her former group disbanded, Maree stumbled upon Women’s Fitness Adventures during a Google search.

She thought about it for a few days, then decided to take a chance and joined up.

I thank my lucky stars every day. It was exactly what I needed! Here was a group of women of a similar age, spending time outdoors, getting fit and having a great time. There was also the element of different hike lengths, along with multi-day hikes both within Australia and overseas that appealed to me.”

Right from her first hike, Maree felt an immediate connection with the women she met – she knew she had made the right choice. She felt welcomed with the warm hospitality of Women’s Fitness Adventures, both on and off the trails.

Maree has enjoyed many highlights over the years with Women’s Fitness Adventures. One of her pinnacle experiences was climbing a particularly challenging mountain, not only for the physical feat, but for the joy of shared laughter and overcoming obstacles together.

For Maree, the greatest triumph was stepping out of her comfort zone to join Women’s Fitness Adventures, because it has rewarded her with a treasure trove of new friendships.

These bonds have since blossomed into a vibrant social circle, extending far beyond the trails into book clubs, online events, and even shared life milestones. She marvels at how each adventure with Women’s Fitness Adventures results in new friendships that are as enriching as they are enduring.

A spontaneous search for companionship in the great outdoors led to an unexpected sisterhood with fellow members, and the Outback Queensland Fitness Adventure really cemented their bond. Now, they’re an inseparable group of friends known for their annual gatherings, diverse escapades, and unwavering support for each other in all of life’s adventures.
