Yvonne’s ‘TOP 3’ of Hiking 2024

As we close another vibrant year at Women’s Fitness Adventures, I’m thrilled to reflect on the adventures that have filled our calendars and our hearts.

I’ve tried really hard to pull together my top picks – it wasn’t easy, especially the multi day hikes as they all hold something special for me.

But here goes:

My Top Picks for 2024

Essential Hiking Fitness Moves

  • Squats: Perfect for building essential lower body strength.
  • Dead Bug: Ideal for core stability, supporting a strong hiking posture.
  • Inchworm: Enhances flexibility and ground mobility, critical for navigating tricky paths.

Gear that Made My Hikes

  • Raincoat: My vibrant red Mont has been indispensable for wet and windy days.
  • Headband: A keepsake from Iceland that’s become a staple for mild weather.
  • Backpack: Retiring my 5 year old pack and switching to a 36-litre Osprey proved a game-changer, highlighting how quickly technology changes for hiking.

Top Multi-Day Hikes of 2024

Amazing Crete with Women's Fitness Adventures

Every trail and piece of gear has its story, and each hike has taught me something valuable about the world and myself.

My Top THREE Hike suggestions for YOU in 2025

Introductory: Murray River Fitness Adventure in August 2025. Hike the banks of the Murray by day and stay in our private houseboat by night. With leisurely hikes, matched with delicious local foods, this immersion in South Australia will leave lasting memories.  We always have an amazing time exploring this region, you can read about one of our recent Adventures to the Murray River here.

Moderate: Come Hike the Painters Way in Germany in May 2025. From cosy hotels to hikes steeped in story and history. To trails so beautiful the painters known as the Romantics became famous. The food and hospitality is unmatched anywhere else. Hike, live and learn like a local. It’s May 2025 and we invite you to join us.

Challenging. Trek the Pyrenees, France with us in September. This jaw dropping, scenic, inspiring hike will leave you wanting more like this. It’s a circuit hike that criss crosses the French-Spanish border. Rich in history, this is one you can’t miss.
