Are you ready to lace up your hiking boots and explore the breathtaking landscapes of Outback Queensland?

This past July, our women’s hiking community embarked on an unforgettable journey during our Outback Queensland Fitness Adventure—a week filled with discovery, camaraderie, and adventure. Here’s a recap of the highlights from our incredible trip, which will inspire you to join us next year!A stunning sunset on the Outback Fitness Adventure

Day 1: Discovering Roma

Our adventure began in the charming town of Roma, where women from all corners of Australia—South Australia, NSW, Victoria, and Queensland—came together as strangers but quickly bonded over our shared excitement.

We kicked off the day with a Roma Town Tour, led by the delightful duo Meryl and Craig, who shared fascinating stories about the town’s significance in Queensland and Australia’s history. From the bustling Roma Sale Yards—the largest in the Southern Hemisphere—to the beautiful Bottle Trees and the captivating Outback Sculpture exhibition, the town was brimming with culture and heritage.A sculpture tree in the foreground of the Roma tour in Outback Queensland

The evening was spent over a shared meal, where new friendships began to blossom, and we eagerly anticipated the week ahead.

Day 2: Secret Trails in Expedition National Park

With the sun rising over a chilly morning, our first hiking day had us brimming with anticipation. After a morning tea of fresh scones (an Outback essential!), we set off for the Lonesome section of Expedition National Park—a hidden gem accessible only by permit. The Women's Fitness Adventures CREW under a giant sandstone formation in Outback Queensland

The trail, flanked by towering bottle trees and rugged sandstone formations, offered us a 10-kilometre adventure through hills and valleys. Guided by Craig’s endless knowledge, our group soaked up the natural beauty and history of this secluded trail.

We ended the day at our glamping site, where the comforts of cosy tents, delicious meals, and a crackling campfire made for a perfect wind-down.Women on the Outback Fitness Adventure relaxing by the fire pit at the glamping site

Day 3: Exploring Carnarvon Gorge

Another frosty start—think -1°C!—didn’t deter our adventurous spirits as we set out for the iconic Carnarvon Gorge National Park. Leaving our luxurious glamping beds behind, we embraced the chill, knowing that the day’s hike would be worth it.

Our 15-kilometre hike took us through stunning landscapes: hopping across crystal-clear creeks, marvelling at ancient Indigenous rock art, discovering the natural amphitheatre, and meandering through lush moss gardens. The sandstone cliffs towering above us provided a breathtaking backdrop for this unforgettable day.Women hiking across a crystal clear stream in the Outback Fitness Adventure

Afternoon tea, surrounded by wildlife and towering rock formations, capped off another magical experience.

Day 4: Private Adventures & Sunset Celebration

This day was nothing short of extraordinary as we explored the private property where we were staying. The morning began with an off-track hike to Whitehorse Mountain, which challenged our rock-scrambling skills. Reaching the summit was a triumph, offering stunning views and a deep sense of accomplishment.

Throughout the day, we connected the dots of everything we’d learned—from the historical insights of our Roma tour to the property’s agricultural richness and its fascinating role in history, including the Brisbane Line.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we celebrated with sunset drinks under a sky painted in hues of purple and blue, followed by an Awards & Celebration Dinner to honour our journey and friendships. The CREW celebrating the end of the Outback Fitness Adventure
