From one woman to another

Women's Fitness Adventures
Life has certainly taken us all by surprise and our reactions are varied, inconsistent and at times highly emotional. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been up, other times down, wondering when this “dream” may end. I’m hopeful, optimistic and also realistic at the same time. Over the course of the 6 years since Women’s Fitness Adventures started and another 7 before that in the women’s fitness space managing and marketing a global female fitness chain, I have been actively been listening to women for 13 years. What I have learnt is that we all want connection, certainty and to be heard  – to know that someone out there notices us, misses us when we don’t show up and values us. This week, on our virtual walk and talk – active in our own suburbs, yet connected through technology, we connected with many women and had great conversations. Here’s an insight from 5 of the Women’s Fitness Adventures members and what they are learning about themselves right now. Marie. Always active, Marie told us that she is learning to relax. That it is ok not to be busy all the time and that is ok. We don’t constantly have to do “something”. Whilst it’s not easy to do, she says she is learning a lot about herself. Janet. Working full time in a not for profit, Janet’s days are full and focused solely on the task at hand. In the moment there is no time for reflection. However when it is “down time’ she’s been reflecting on where life is right now.

Sharon. The discipline of the daily walk gets me out of bed.  I am feeling purpose and positive and can take that back to the house.

Lynda. Having lived in isolated communities before, my key learning is to take each day as it comes. To focus on the one day and do what feels right for that day. Ruth. The opportunity to connect with others through technology and REALLY listen. I may never have had these discussions or learnt so much about someone had it been an in person meeting. The answers we all seek aren’t there right now, however the time to pause, reset and refocus is. Who we are and what we do right now comes down to our integrity, our values and our ethics. What we do when no one is watching speaks volumes for who we are.  Women’s Fitness Adventures helps women become stronger and fitter for life through fitness, adventure and social.
