Then And Now: Meg’s Story

At Women’s Fitness Adventures, we see the transformation that happens when a woman finally says “yes” to herself. Sometimes it begins with a single walk around the block, sometimes with a longing to explore new walking adventures or reconnect with nature and sometimes it’s simply the search for a trusted community of women who “get it.”

Wherever it starts, real change begins when you have the right support, the right training and a brand you can genuinely rely on. Stories like Meg’s remind us why women walking together, learning, training and taking on new hiking adventures, is so powerful.

Meet Meg.

Before I found Women’s Fitness Adventures, I felt like I was overwhelmed with life. I’d poured so much of myself into my family and career that I’d lost sight of who I was outside those roles. My confidence had dipped, my fitness wasn’t where I wanted it to be, and even my friendships were shifting as my children finished school. Hiking felt like something I used to be capable of, not something I could realistically do again.

What changed first wasn’t my fitness. It was my belief that I could do this again.

Learning how to train properly gave me the foundation I’d been missing for years. For the first time in a long time, I had structure, guidance, and a plan that made sense. Bit by bit, I felt myself getting stronger. And right alongside that strength came something even more precious, a community of women who encouraged me, laughed with me, challenged me, and made me feel like I belonged.

Through all of that, I didn’t just rediscover hiking. I rediscovered myself.

One moment stands out above everything else. In April 2025, I walked into the square in Santiago de Compostela after completing the Camino. It had been a quiet dream of mine for years, but I’d never felt strong enough, knowledgeable enough, or supported enough to make it real. Standing there, knowing I had done something I once thought was beyond me, was overwhelming. It was proof, undeniable proof, of how far I’d come in courage, fitness and self-belief.

If you’re reading this and wondering whether you could ever start hiking, or start again, I want you to know this:

Take the chance on yourself.

Start small. My journey began with 5km in 5 days. From there came Mt Kosciuszko, and from there… the world opened up. Commit, show up, trust the process. You will be supported, you will be encouraged, and the rewards, internal and external are far greater than you can ever imagine.

If I can come this far, you can too.

Meg
