I joined Women’s Fitness Adventures after a chance encounter at a Christmas party in 2016. I was discussing holiday destinations with some new people and walking the Cinque Terre was mentioned.
This had been a dream of mine for many years but I had not found an opportunity or a travelling companion.
It turned out that the lovely lady was going on the Women’s Fitness Adventures Cinque Terre walk in 2017. She sent me information about the group and I joined in early 2017 – and signed up for the 2018 Cinque Terre trip straight away.
Before I joined the group, I had been through a few challenging years.
Some major life changes had left me a bit sad and unsure of my direction – my self confidence was pretty low
I think my biggest achievement since joining is recognising that I have become a stronger person – physically, emotionally and mentally.
The adventures I have been on each had there own challenges and highlights and it is hard to single out one moment (though conquering the 2000 + steps at Sealy Tarns in New Zealand this year was pretty big).
Now, I always put in the time for me because it simply makes me feel better – about everything. I have more energy and that gives me more enthusiasm.
My advice to anyone thinking of joining is to just do it.
The group is really a true community and there are so many opportunities to try new things at your own pace.
Of course the members are exceptional. I have met some of the most inspiring women and they have motivated me in so many ways.
Every adventure is great fun – though Cinque Terre will always have a special place in my heart.
