Meet Dorothy: Finding Greater Fitness and Diverse Adventures

Member Stories Dorothy

We’re excited to feature Dorothy, a member who has always loved hiking. Her membership with Women’s Fitness Adventures has elevated her fitness and enabled her to do more of what she loves with greater frequency and diversity.

Meet Dorothy:

When I stumbled upon Women’s Fitness Adventures on Facebook, I was already a hiking enthusiast, having been a member of hiking groups both in Australia and overseas. Retirement had blessed me with more time to pursue this passion, so I decided to give Women’s Fitness Adventures a shot.

Honestly, it’s been quite the ride. I’ve tackled some challenging hikes like Mt Barney and Iceland, but my most significant achievement has been a continuous improvement in my overall fitness.

Life before Women’s Fitness Adventures was already good; I enjoyed keeping fit. Yet, joining this group presented me with an opportunity to do more of what I loved but in an even safer and more supportive environment. Even in retirement, life can be full and demanding. What really keeps me committed to my fitness is setting myself challenges that are achievable but still stretch me and push me to do better. There’s a friendly kind of fear that motivates me to ensure exercise isn’t squeezed out by the busyness of life.

If you’re contemplating joining Women’s Fitness Adventures, just do it. What sets Women’s Fitness Adventures apart for me is the ethos; it’s genuinely supportive of women progressing in their fitness, irrespective of where you’re starting. They offer honest feedback, great knowledge, and good humour.

It’s so uplifting to not only see myself becoming fitter but those around me as well. I would recommend Women’s Fitness Adventures to anyone wanting to go adventuring in a supportive group setting.

Had I not joined Women’s Fitness Adventures, I think I’d still be hiking, but those hikes wouldn’t have been as frequent or diverse. Consequently, my fitness wouldn’t be where it is today. The cherry on top has been the great camaraderie that comes from regular interactions with such a great bunch of people.

You too, can achieve amazing results and be a part of Women’s Fitness Adventures!
