Drowning in a sea of love.
Our rest day in Naduri coincided with the Sabbath. Most of the villages along the track are Seventh Day Adventists. As guests of the village we were invited to attend the local church ceremony. Many of our porters were there- looking very different to the track, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones.
Beautiful children were everywhere with radiant smiles and eyes that captured your soul.
All of the Trekkers were invited to the front of the church where we were presented with a fresh lei and sung to. You could feel the love in the room and as the congregation began to sing to us the tears flowed down my face and I felt I was drowning in a sea of love
Lunch was hosted by the Village with plenty of fruit to be had. Then off for a visit to the local school – a 45 minute downhill trek – and of course uphill again.
Sing sing and an evening storm rounded out the evening.
With our special day of rest immersed in another culture it’s easy to forget we will be hiking the track again tomorrow.
