We’re thrilled to share Linda’s journey with Women’s Fitness Adventures. Her down-to-earth approach and personal mantra offer relatable wisdom on maintaining an active life and finding community.
Meet Linda:
Before joining Women’s Fitness Adventures, my life was largely focused on overcoming significant health challenges. I underwent total hip replacements for both hips within an 18-month span and stepped away from full-time work. As a result, my activity levels were quite limited, and my schedule was often filled with medical appointments. Essentially, I found myself mostly staying at home.
The decision to join Women’s Fitness Adventures was largely influenced by my sister, who is a member herself. She has thoroughly enjoyed her time with Women’s Fitness Adventures and encouraged me to become a member as well.
Since joining, I believe my most significant achievement has been starting and completing the Introduction to Hiking course. Taking that first step is often the hardest part. While I’ve developed other goals since then, I’ll always be grateful for the support, encouragement, and fun I experienced during those three days.
Since then, I’ve gone on to complete my FIRST Multi Day Hiking Adventure with Women’s Fitness Adventures on Kangaroo Island.
It was fabulous and the group was so supportive of me. Even when I doubted myself, I knew our C.R.E.W Leader Jane would encourage me to believe in myself.
When people ask me about making time for fitness despite a busy schedule, I often share my personal mantra: “if it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.” This mindset has helped me prioritise getting and staying active, especially after joining Women’s Fitness Adventures. The team, including Yvonne, Tricia, and Jane, are experts in their field, and they make everyone feel safe and supported. What’s more, the community is just amazing; it’s filled with genuine people, which is so refreshing.
For anyone considering joining, don’t hesitate. The program caters to all levels, and being outdoors adds a layer of fun that you don’t get in a typical gym environment. I’d especially recommend it for all women interested in maintaining or improving their health and well-being, particularly those who’ve stepped back from work or have fewer family responsibilities.
Staying committed to this journey has been easier than I thought, mainly because I schedule my outdoor adventures as diary appointments. When it’s in the diary, I’m committed to showing up, which also helps me avoid overcommitting and getting too fatigued.
If I hadn’t joined Women’s Fitness Adventures, I feel like I would’ve been merely existing rather than truly living. The sense of social and community connection I’ve gained would have been missing, leaving me feeling pretty isolated.
Everyone’s journey and goals are unique, and I’m so glad I found the courage to take that first step. My next goal is the Trekking in Tuscany Fitness Adventure and I cannot wait.
