Almost 5 years ago, Women’s Fitness Adventures began.
I am often asked how it all started. Let me share the story with you.
For many years I was working in the women’s health and fitness field, from a global marketing role to gym ownership. It was in this time that I also became a personal trainer.
Throughout this time, I coached and trained many women in fitness and weight loss.
What I found was that we all (generally) wanted to be fitter and healthier and to lose some weight. But the tougher question was “How did we really know when we got there. What did it mean, what did it look like and would I be happy?”
From thousands of conversations, I discovered that when you had a REAL goal, one that you went ALL IN ON, then changes started to happen.
So that is how we started.
We set the goal to hike the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. The entire 110km of it. All women who barely knew each other.
Yes we stayed in cabins and ate well. AND we only carried our day packs.
We trained for months with the end goal in sight.
And we changed – we all got much fitter, stronger and overall healthier. We became less concerned about weight loss and more focused on our overall fitness.
AND WE FORMED INCREDIBLE FRIENDSHIPS.
You see, the journey started long before the actual adventure and continued long after.
We had shared more than a hike. We had shared our highs and lows, our goals and fears. The support from the other women was amazing – all without judgement and competition.
It is like that on every adventure.
Imagine each and every time, that you adventure you leave feeling better than when you began?
And that is whether you are on an adventure close to home or on the other side of the world.
In addition to the friendship, the places we go to are AMAZING. The beaten paths, the hidden tracks, the secret locations and the bucket lists. Always safe and supported. Always an opportunity to replenish the soul.
SO 5 years on, we have shared so many stories, cried with joy as we reached our personal summit, supported each other through fields and streams, traversed hills and valleys and had an absolute ball.
My personal goal hasn’t changed – and that is to help women become the healthiest and strongest they can be. I believe that when we are fitter and stronger, we feel good. Actually we feel great.
And when we feel great, we have more courage. We become less fearful.
We become fear – less
But it doesn’t stop there. Our strength has a ripple effect. We do good things. And when we do good things, so do others and then others…
