Bruny Island

After a hearty breakfast we begin our adventure. Our guides drive us to Kettering where our bus is loaded onto the barge to Bruny Island.

We are off!

We disembark around mid morning, ready for our first hike.

The Cape Queen Elizabeth hike is a wonderful place to start. Whilst the first section of the trail might seem like any old trail, once we get to the coast the scenery is superb.

At the end of the hike, we drive to our accommodation where we settle in for the night and enjoy Bruny Island.

We enjoy stunning views of the rugged mountains of Tasmania’s Southern ranges.

Mt. Bleak will be our highest point today and from the summit we can see Partridge Island.

Overall a wonderful day to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

Late afternoon we head back to our accommodation for the evening.

Adventure Bay, Fluted Cape Walk

What a name, what a walk. Adventure Bay here we come.

It’s a morning walk today from stunning white sand beaches to a tall Blue Gum forest this day has it all.

The Fluted Cape section of today’s hike is a mostly moderate, although steep in parts, trail.

We hike along some trail edges along a coast of crystal blue waters!!  It’s slow and steady through here as we hug the clifftop, fully supported by your guides and C.R.E.W Leader – to be rewarded with spectacular views.

Keep your eyes out for Bruny Island’s unique white wallaby.

After our morning hike, we leave Bruny Island and head via the scenic route to Dover on the mainland.

We arrive late in the day to our accommodation and enjoy another lovely evening meal.

Saturday 28th January

Hartz Mountain

After a hearty breakfast, we take our private transfer to the spectacular alpine region of Hartz Mountain National Park.

Nothing gets the heart going more than a short section of steady uphill hiking through scrubby bushland and over rocky steps.

Soon the trail opens up into heathland and beautiful views of D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Mt Wellington to the north and Hartz Peak to the south.

Once our hike reaches Ladies Tarn,  it’s a steep, yet short ascent of about 100 meters to the saddle below Hartz Peak.

There’s a final, short, yet steep climb over a rock scree to the summit, where we are rewarded with fantastic views in all directions.

Today we see first hand the wonder of Tasmania – with views of the typical mountainous areas Tasmania is known for.

Once back from our hike,  we make our way to the famous Tahune AirWalk –  an elevated walkway 30 metres above the forest floor, with the final cantilever section sitting at a height of 50 metres above the Huon River.

With spectacular views to the confluence of the Huon and Picton and beyond to the peaks of the World Heritage Area.

After such a big day, we make our way back to our accommodation for the evening

Sunday 29th January

Cockle Creek to South Cape Walk

After a delicious breakfast we head south to the wild southern coastline of Tasmania.

It’s an out and back hike today and this trail is the most southerly day walk you can do in Australia.

The first section of the trail is a gently sloping rocky surface, so whilst not difficult, concentration is needed. Soon it opens out onto undulating trails and duck boarded marshlands.

Before long we emerge onto the rugged dark cliff top surrounding South Cape Bay.

This section of the trail offers the opportunity to pause and reflect – the feeling of being at the end of the world.

We have magnificent views from here of South Cape, Lion Rock and the wild ocean.

We then return hike via the same route, before returning to our accommodation for a little bit of relaxation before dinner.

  • Sustainable Adventures

Our fabulous adventures allow you to create memories and friendships that last a lifetime. At Women’s Fitness Adventures we are also committed to sustainable adventures so that the places and spaces we go will also last well beyond our lifetime and the many generations to follow. Sustainability starts when you join our community and never ends.

We are committed to the principles of minimal impact, leave no trace, tread lightly and give back to the local community. Here’s how we do that for all of our adventures (short and long)

    Consumables

    • We encourage “no plastics” so bringing refillable water bottles, reusable cups and cutlery where applicable and using lunchboxes where plastic can be minimised
    • It’s a leave no trace principle, so all food scraps, toilet waste and rubbish items are carried out. (See our Masterclass on Toileting for the Trail)
    • We are committed to reducing paper waste inside our organisation and have implemented a paperless booking system.

    Transport

    • We encourage the use of public transport or carpooling to minimise the use of motor vehicles.
    • When flying, we encourage you to offset your emissions by purchasing carbon offsets.

    Minimal impact

    • We have a “tread lightly” policy where we stay on known tracks and paths, minimising our impact to bush, plants and wildlife.
    • Before we embark on an adventure or trail, we brief you on the flora, fauna and any other considerations that form the uniqueness of the environment so that you understand and appreciate the minimal impact approach.

    Accommodation & Adventure Partners

    • Where possible we partner with fellow Eco Certified businesses who follow the same eco philosophies
    • Our destinations are all pre-arranged and when we camp we do so in designated campsites.
    • Our adventures have all the applicable National Park permits and licenses to operate.
    • Our “give back” policy also applies to the locations we stay – choosing local operators, businesses and townships where funds spent go directly to small business owners – doing our part to create sustainable communities.

Here Is What Other Women Say About Our Adventures

” Knowing the leaders has been a most positive part of my life. From the very beginning I have been encouraged to do my best. Everything about the adventures has been amazing” Mt Koscuisko 2017

Merlene Madge

“It was just the level of fun! The comradeship and sense of adventure was great with the entire group of ladies. Also the fact that every single step was never repeated. The variety of walks was super. The adventure was coordinated so well and ran like clockwork” Cinque Terre, Italy 2019.
