It’s a true Tasmanian Sampler. Arrive into beautiful Hobart. Enjoy the hikes and magic of Bruny Island. Visit the Huon region and enjoy the famous Tahune Airwalk above the Huon River. Admire the views of this beautiful World Heritage Area.

This fitness adventure is Introductory Level. Each night you return to your accommodation and carry only a day pack during the day. Join us and soak up the best Tasmania has to offer.

Hobart

Today is departure day!

You can travel with our Women’s Fitness Adventure C.R.E.W Leader or you can meet us in Hobart for our Welcome Dinner.

The choice is yours.

Monday November 2

Bruny Island

After a hearty breakfast we begin our adventure. Our guides drive us to Kettering where our bus is loaded onto the barge to Bruny Island.

We are off!

We disembark around mid morning, ready for our first hike.

The Cape Queen Elizabeth hike is a cracking way to start and as soon as we hit the coast it is absolutely spectacular!

At the end of the hike, we drive to our accommodation where we settle in for the night and enjoy Bruny Island.

Tuesday November 3

Labillardiere Peninsula  

After a delicious breakfast we hike what is considered one of  the best hikes in Tasmania, with fantastic views of the Bruny Island coastline and the D’entrecasteaux channel.

We enjoy stunning views of  the rugged mountains of Tasmania’s Southern ranges.

Mt. Bleak will be our highest point today and from the summit we can see Partridge Island.

Overall a wonderful day to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

Late afternoon we head back to our accommodation for the evening.

Wednesday November 4

Adventure Bay, Fluted Capes 

Today we are off to Adventure Bay… which is actually pretty calm!

From stunning white sand beaches to a tall Blue Gum forest this day has it all.

And then we hike along trail edges along a coast of crystal blue waters!!

Keep your eyes out for Bruny Island’s unique white wallaby.

After our morning hike, we leave Bruny Island and head via the scenic route to Dover on the mainland.

We arrive late in the day to our accommodation and enjoy a lovely evening meal.

Thursday November 5

Hartz Mountain 

After a hearty breakfast, we make our way to the spectacular alpine region of Hartz Mountain National Park.

Our hike begins with few hundred metres of gradual climbing through scrubby bushland over rocky steps before opening up into heathland and beautiful views of D’Entrecasteaux Channel, Mt Wellington to the north and Hartz Peak to the south.

Once we reach Ladies Tarn the track climbs steep but it’s a short ascent of about 100 meters to the saddle below Hartz Peak.

A final climb over a rock scree to the summit, before we are  rewarded with fantastic views in all directions.

Today is all about the glacier formed landscapes views of the  typical mountainous areas Tasmania is so well known for.

After our hike we make our way to the famous Tahune AirWalk –  an elevated walkway 30 metres above the forest floor, with the final cantilever section sitting at a height of 50 metres above the Huon River.

With spectacular views to the confluence of the Huon and Picton and beyond to the peaks of the World Heritage Area this is a must do!

We make our way back to our accommodation for the evening

Friday November 6

Cockle Creek to South Cape 

After a delicious breakfast we head south to the wild southern coastline of Tasmania.

The trail first skirts Cockle Creek and then for the next 3km the trail scrabbles over the gentle rocky slopes of Moulders Hill before opening up onto duck boarded marshlands.

Thanks to the duck boards, the hiking  here is easy and the next few kilometres are quickly covered.

The trail then climbs along several gentle hills, emerging onto the rugged dark cliff top surrounding South Cape Bay.

This cliff top section of the trail is enticingly beautiful and eerie all at once. The barren grey rock stands in stark contrast to the lush forest we recently departed. From here incredible views of South Cape, Lion Rock and the turbulent ocean are our reward. We then return via the same route.

Saturday November 7th

Huonville

After a relaxed start to our day  and a leisurely breakfast we make our way  to Huonville to enjoy a local lunch.

It is here we have our Traditional Celebration Awards recognising achievements and successes from the adventure.

From Huonville we drive to Hobart airport where the adventure finishes early afternoon.

If flying out from here, please book your flights for early evening.

FITNESS TRAINING

Our Tasmania Deep South Fitness Adventure is classified Introductory-Moderate and provides the opportunity to experience a wonderful part of Tasmania

Women’s Fitness Adventures provides the opportunity to attend  monthly hike training sessions within the greater Brisbane area.

This monthly training is included in your package.

We advise you do as much training as you can before the trip.  The more you train for this hike, the easier you will handle the terrain and the more you will enjoy this wonderful part of the world.

Non Brisbane residents have a monthly call and online training provided.

ACCOMMODATION

During our Tasmania Deep South Fitness Adventure

We stay at a centrally located Hotel for 1 night in Hobart.

On Bruny Island we stay at a Hotel for 2 nights.

The hotel rooms are allocated on a twin share basis with ensuite bathrooms.

In Dover we stay in cottages for 3 nights.

All our accommodation is clean and comfortable.

MEALS

Tasmania Deep South Fitness Adventure itinerary has catered for

6 Breakfasts  and 6 lunches and 6 Dinners.

Please refer to each day’s itinerary for inclusions.

Whilst we do not supply alcohol, you are welcome to buy your own.

Remember alcohol is dehydrating and the goal is to hike each day.

Should you have any special snacks that you can’t live without, you are welcome to bring these with you.

YOUR LEADERS

Your experienced Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W. Leader is with you all the way.

From the moment you arrive in Hobart (or if you are travelling there together) until the time you leave she will be your ultimate fan and support.

Your C.R.E.W Leader is fully trained in Remote Area First Aid and is your first point of call once you are on the adventure.

GEAR AND EQUIPMENT

Within a few weeks of your booking being confirmed, you will have access to your Gear and Packing list.

By sticking to the list, you will be well prepared for

If you are new to adventures and do not have the gear, please hold off until our Member Night at the Adventure store or your first training session where you can talk to your Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W Leader

Women’s Fitness Adventures regularly holds information and education evenings with our preferred Adventure store partners.

At these events you will be able to receive professional advice, adventure specific information, a fun night out and the Women’s Fitness Adventures Members’ discount on equipment purchases on the night.

Your C.R.E.W Leaders are carrying Emergency Communications Equipment and a group first aid kit.

SAFETY

Safety is our number one priority. Your C.R.E.W Leader is fully trained in Remote Area First Aid and your Guides hold  Senior First Aid Qualifications.

All guides and leaders have current CPR Qualifications.

In the event of extreme weather conditions or conditions beyond our control, the adventure may vary from the itinerary. Please be aware of this and accept this as part of the adventure. Your personal safety is our highest priority.

Our guide, along with your Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W Leader, who is there to support YOU, will ensure that you leave with not only knowledge of the local area, but also priceless memories.

  • What you carry

    You will only need day packs to carry your water and snacks for the day.  You may also have personal items that you might like to carry along such as extra clothing, rainjacket, sunscreen and camera. The weight of this would vary around 5-7kg.

    A comprehensive gear list will be supplied to you long before the adventure so that you can feel confident that you have the right gear.

    Within a few weeks of your booking being confirmed, you will have access to your Gear and Packing list.

  • Fitness Level

    Our Tasmanian Deep South Fitness Adventure is Graded Introductory.

    The hiking is manageable with daily guided walks of around 4-6 hours, some of it on boardwalks.

    There are also ferries to catch.

    You will need an average level of fitness to participate fully in this adventure.

    Women’s Fitness Adventures provides the opportunity to attend  monthly hike training sessions within the greater Brisbane area.

    This monthly training is included in your package.

    We advise you do as much training as you can before the trip.  The more you train for this hike, the easier you will handle the terrain and the more you will enjoy this wonderful part of the world.

  • Weather

    Our itinerary covers mountainous areas, as well as coastal walks and with that comes a variety of climates. Tasmanian weather is typically hard to predict. In fact the only thing we can say for certain is that the weather will be unpredictable. Despite the fact we are going in summer, you need to be equipped for everything from snow to 30 degrees.

    In completing and submitting the Booking Form, you agree to be bound by these conditions which constitute the agreement between Women’s Fitness Adventures ABN 99 126 975 880 and you.

    No purported variation of these conditions will be effective unless in writing and signed by a person so authorised by Women’s Fitness Adventures. In these terms and conditions reference to “Women’s Fitness Adventures representatives” means staff of Women’s Fitness Adventures and its officers, employees, agents, licensees, guides and other third parties and representatives and the land management authorities in each country in which the tour is conducted, or any of them.

    For international bookings please note a passport is required for all International Travel and a minimum of 6 months validity is required on your passport.

    Final itineraries and gear lists will be supplied via email no more than 14-21 days prior to your departure date.

    Prices

    All prices are subject to availability and can be withdrawn or varied without notice. The price is only guaranteed once paid for in full by you.

    Price changes can occur between the time you make a reservation and the date of full payment. Therefore pricing is subject to change until final payment has been received. Factors influencing price changes can be currency fluctuations, fuel surcharges, taxes and other provider increases outside of our control. Please be aware of this.

    • An initial non refundable deposit of 20% is required to secure your place on this adventure.
    • Once a booking is confirmed, payment must be received within the payment terms as advised by Women’s Fitness Adventures in the table below.
    • Failure to pay within the deadline will result in automatic cancellation of your booking.
    • Payments are accepted by direct deposit, by cheque or by credit card. There are no surcharges for bookings made through the Women’s Fitness Adventures website
    • When your credit card is processed by Women’s Fitness Adventures you agree to not have your payment ‘charged back’ or reversed by your credit card provider where the services have been provided

    Travel Insurance

     

    Travel insurance must be taken out at this point and a copy of your Travel Documentation supplied with your completed Participant Document to guarantee your place.

    • Please make sure that you read, understand and accept all of the fine print contained within your insurance policy before purchase to ensure it covers all of your personal requirements.
    • Please ensure your Travel Insurance covers you for cancellation, medical and repatriation expenses, personal injury and accident, death, loss of personal baggage and money and personal liability insurance. It is also important to read the fine print in relation to parents over the age of 80 and what is included/excluded from your policy. If using your credit card insurance, please check the terms and conditions on this before booking with us.

    Women’s Fitness Adventures and its partners are not liable for any out of pocket expenses that insurance will not cover and will not be held responsible financially or in kind should your insurance not cover your personal circumstances.

    Itineraries and other details are published in good faith as statements of intention only and reasonable changes in the itinerary and related items may be made where deemed necessary or advisable by Women’s Fitness Adventures.

    The information contained in Women’s Fitness Adventures website, Facebook Pages, brochures, itineraries, and any other published content, is to the best of Women’s Fitness Adventures knowledge, correct at the time of publication.

     

    Route changes, Postponement, Cancellation or Delay.

     

    Women’s Fitness Adventures reserves the right to:

    • Cancel or modify any routes within the adventures or objectives set out in the itinerary; or
    • Substitute different or equivalent routes within the adventures in place of cancelled or modified routes, or
    • Postpone, cancel or delay (either in relation to the departure or arrival times or the duration of the adventures) any such aspect of the tour if, at the absolute discretion of Women’s Fitness Adventures, it is necessary to do so due to inclement weather, snow or icy conditions or conditions that are otherwise likely to be hazardous or dangerous or due to any other adverse or threatening conditions whether political or military or terrorist or otherwise or if, in the absolute discretion of Women’s Fitness Adventures there is a likelihood of any such event occurring which may impact upon the safety of the participants, or if an act or omission of a third party prevents the tour or the aspect of the tour being undertaken in accordance with your booking or for any other reason considered necessary by Women’s Fitness Adventures.
    • In the event of any change, modification, cancellation postponement or delay under this condition, you acknowledge that you will have no right of refund of the adventure price (whether in whole or in part) and no right to claim compensation for any injury, loss or damage or other additional expenses incurred by virtue of the change, modification, cancellation postponement or delay.
    • Women’s Fitness Adventures also reserves, at its absolute discretion, the right to cancel any tour due to any government travel warning or advice, or any change in such warning or advice. Travel insurance may compensate you depending on the circumstances.

     

    Cancellation by Women’s Fitness Adventures.

     

    Cancellation by Women’s Fitness Adventures. 

    Women’s Fitness Adventures reserves the right to cancel a departure and will advise you of such cancellations no later than 60 days before the adventure departure date.

    If due to ‘Force Majeure’ or government travel advice, Women’s Fitness Adventures reserves the right to cancel a departure at any time. With any form of cancellation, Women’s Fitness Adventures will do it’s best to offer you alternative arrangements if available, and if the price of your alternative adventure is of lower value than the original booking we will refund the difference to you. If you do not accept alternative arrangements we will refund all payments you have made to Women’s Fitness Adventures, (in case of ‘Force Majeure’ or government travel advice refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs). Women’s Fitness Adventures will not be liable for any additional costs incurred by you.

    Force Majeure Women’s Fitness Adventures will not be liable for any delay in, change to or cancellation of trips due to ‘Force Majeure’. ‘Force Majeure’ definition means a circumstance beyond the reasonable control of Women’s Fitness Adventures and includes, but is not limited to, war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, disease, industrial or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and strikes.

    Women’s Fitness Adventures reserve the right either before or during the course of the adventure to refuse to carry or accommodate any client which it reasonably considers, in the light of the best interests of all participants within the adventure group and crew, to be unsuitable by reason of physical or mental condition or unruly behaviour.

    Cancellation due to small adventure numbers. 

    Women’s Fitness Adventures reserves the right to cancel any adventure prior to departure in the event that there are too few people booked on the adventure. In this case, you will be given a full refund of the amount already paid by you. You will not be entitled to claim any additional amounts or seek any compensation for any injury, loss, expenses or damage (either direct or consequential) or for any loss of time or inconvenience which may result from such cancellation (including but not limited to visa, passport and vaccination charges, or departure, gear purchases, airport and airline taxes or annual leave).

    We require a minimum of 11 trekkers for the Tasmania Deep South Fitness Adventure. If numbers do not reach this level we reserve the right to cancel, or change the dates of the adventure or refer you to another existing adventure.

    Adventure numbers are regularly reviewed and we will notify you of any cancellations no later than 60 days prior to your selected trek.

    Medical Disclosure. It is your responsibility and you must advise women’s Fitness Adventures of any pre-existing medical condition and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of you requiring medical attention while on our tours. Women’s Fitness Adventures or our suppliers may require additional medical assessment by a medical practitioner. Women’s Fitness Adventures reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your booking and refund the money paid by you, less any unrecoverable costs. Women’s Fitness Adventures also reserves the right to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other trip members.
