Although not as big as Mt Barney, climbing Mt Maroon at 965 meters is a challenge in itself, following ridge lines and steep rocky gullies. Our guides will lead you to the top of one of the Scenic Rim’s most picturesque mountains, Mt Maroon.

After lunch and a cuppa, we will head down the mountain via an orchid filled gorge which eventually opens up into one of the most spectacular slabby creek beds with infinity pools and crystal clear water.  Finally we will reach Paddy’s Plain and exit to Drynan’s Hut via a fire trail.

This is a circuit hike going up Mt Maroon and down Paddy’s Plain, making it a longer hike (and a car shuffle) than our standard Mt Maroon Hike 

You will need a moderate -high level of fitness to do this hike. We will hike for approximately 6-8 hours, depending on the pace of the group.  Travelling time to and from the location is in addition to this.

We do hope that you can join us for a day of discovery and adventure.

Either this hike or the Stinson Plane Wreck hike is a prerequisite for the Women’s Fitness Adventures Mt Barney Summit Hike expedition in August.

FAQ's

I am reasonably fit but have not done this type of thing before. Is it for me?
  • If you like an adventure and have a solid level of fitness, then this is the adventure for you.
  • As it is a mountain there are steep sections in parts so a high level of cardio is essential.
  • We follow a path but some rock scrambling is required.
  • Our guides and the support of other members of the team are there to help.
Can I car pool?
  • We always ask if anyone wants to share a lift. Once you are booked, we will put the call out.
What gear do I need?
  • We recommend a backpack to carry your water, snacks, lunch, camera and a windproof jacket.
  • Hiking boots/shoes are recommended, however if you have comfortable walking shoes/joggers that are well worn in, then these will be fine.
  • Once your booking is confirmed we will send you a comprehensive list of essentials for the day.
Inclement weather
  • Please note that although we will endeavour to run this adventure in all weather conditions, some modifications may occur for the summit hike in inclement weather – in particular our ability to go down Paddy’s Plain as this is slippery in the wet.
  • If  we cannot go down Paddy’s Plain it will be an up and back the same track.   If this is the case, we will modify the original program to ensure we can still provide an outdoor fitness adventure of some variety on that day.
  • Should we have to cancel the adventure due to poor weather conditions or a Government advised directive, you will be advised by text and email the evening before.
  • Should this occur, alternative arrangements for an alternative date will be made or a credit or refund offered.
 

Covid-19 Safe Processes & Procedures

To ensure we have a Covid-safe environment, the following procedures are in place:
  • Social distancing. All participants are required to be 1.5 metres apart at all times
  • The principles of good hand hygiene, sneezing/coughing into your arm and the use and disposal of tissues is mandatory
  • No food or equipment to be shared
  • If you feel unwell, DO NOT attend
  • If at the start of the session the leader deems you are not well enough to participate and you may jeopardise the health of others, you may be asked to leave. No refunds, credits or transfers will be available.

Booking terms and conditions
  • Once your payment is received, you will receive an email confirming your place.
  • Any cancellations made before 16th May, will receive a full refund less a 25% admin fee. Strictly no refunds for cancellations made after 16th May, 2021.
  • Should this event have to be cancelled due to severe weather or an unforeseen event, including Government Advice, you will receive a credit voucher.
