Join us on this half to three quarter day hike in the Scenic Rim.

Mt Joyce is the southern most peak in the Teviot Range, a group of mountains that travels north to Ivory’s Rock.

We hike along the banks of the Wyaralong Dam to the summit track for Mt Joyce.  The trail head is located near the dam wall and provides a chance to view the Wyaralong Dam via a viewing platform.

Once at the top we are rewarded with amazing views as far as Mt Barney and back to Brisbane.

It’s about 13km, give or take and will be at a consistent pace.

FAQs

I am reasonably fit but have not done this type of thing before. Is it for me?
  • If you love the outdoors and are a regular hiker, then this is the adventure for you.
  • We grade this hike as minimum Moderate, due to the pace, the heat and the ascent of the climb.
  • Your Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W Leaders are there to support you all the way.

Can I car pool?
  • We always ask if anyone wants to share a lift. You can add your request to the closed C.R.E.W Member Facebook Group.
  What gear do I need?
  • We recommend a backpack to carry your water, snacks, reusable coffee cup, phone, water shoes (optional), and a windproof jacket.
  • Hiking boots/shoes are recommended, however if you have comfortable walking shoes/joggers that are well worn in, then these will be fine.
  • Preference is for shoes with grip on the sole.
How far is the meeting point for the hike from Brisbane?
  • The meeting point is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes drive from Brisbane CBD.
  • Our start time for the meeting point for the hike is 7.30am, to take advantage of the cooler weather.
  • This does mean an early start if coming from Brisbane. We anticipate being back to the cars/meeting point around early afternoon depending on the pace of the group however you will need to be flexible with this.
  Inclement weather
  • Please note that although we will endeavour to run this adventure in all weather conditions, some modifications may occur for the hike in inclement weather.
  •  If this is the case, we will modify the original program to ensure we can still provide an outdoor fitness adventure of some variety on that day.
  • Should we have to cancel the adventure due to poor weather conditions, you will be advised by text and email the evening before.  Should this occur, alternative arrangements for another date and/or refund will be made.
  Personal Health & Safety
  • To ensure your personal Health & Safety as well as that of your fellow walkers, we ask that, if you feel unwell, you do not attend. Please let us know via phone, email or text if this is the case
  • Please follow the principles of good hand hygiene, sneeze and cough into your arm and dispose of tissues accordingly.
  • If the leader at the start of the session deems that you are unwell enough to participate and you may jeopardise the health of others, you may be asked to leave.

  • This activity is suitable for moderate and above fitness levels.
  • By booking into this activity you agree to our Booking Terms and Conditions, which includes completing our Participant Document for this adventure. If you have previously completed this document you will need to update it if there has been a change to any of your information, including medical history, since you last completed it.
  • If, on the day, you feel unwell, or unable to participate, you must immediately notify one of the leaders.
  • You should only participate if you feel you are medically able to do so.
  • If, at any time, the leader feels concerned about your ability to participate or is concerned for your safety, they may ask you to “sit out” or not participate in a particular program.
  • You accept that this is predominantly an outdoor activity in a bush setting and it carries associated risks, including but not limited to uneven surfaces, rocks, weather conditions and animals.
