Mt Edwards Summit, at 632 metres, is the perfect start to hiking to the summit of mountains.

We do hope you can join us on Mt Edwards Summit Hike.

From Haigh Park, Moogerah we walk across the dam wall and marvel at the engineering feat that we see below.

A continuous gradual incline through dry sclerophyll forest with a lookout along the way leads us up to a steeper section before we summit with magnificent views of the Great Dividing Range.

We return via the same track and once at the bottom we will take the opportunity to have our lunch, picnic style,  at a picnic table or on the lawns overlooking the dam.

Starting time is 8.00am. Travelling time is in addition to this. Full details can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions tab.

FAQS

I am reasonably fit but have not done this type of thing before. Is it for me?
  • If you love the outdoors and are keen to start hiking, then this is the adventure for you. We take our time to enjoy the scenery and interact and interpret the environment.
  • We have graded this as a Moderate hike. The path is well marked and easy to follow however the track is a continuous gradual incline up to the summit so you will get out of breath as your heart rate elevates.
  • Once we pass the lookout there is a steeper section that includes hiking over uneven surfaces. Your Women’s Fitness Adventures Leader is there to support you all the way.
  • If you would like to discuss your fitness level for this hike, then please contact the office on 0412 121 420 or by email [email protected]
Can I car pool?
  • If you wish to car pool, please make a post in the Member Only Facebook Group.
  • You can also plan to meet at a central location and follow along in convoy if that is easier.
What gear do I need?
  • We recommend a backpack to carry your water, snacks, camera and a windproof jacket.
  • Hiking boots/shoes are recommended, however if you have comfortable walking shoes/joggers that are well worn in, then these will be fine. Preference is for shoes with grip on the sole.
How far is the meeting point for the hike from Brisbane?
  • The meeting point is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes drive from Brisbane CBD. Our start time for the hike is 8.00am.
  • This does mean an early start if coming from Brisbane. We anticipate being back to the cars/meeting point around 1pm in the afternoon (approximately), depending on the pace of the group.
Inclement weather
  • Please note that although we will endeavour to run this adventure in all weather conditions, some modifications may occur for the summit hike in inclement weather.
  • If this is the case, we will modify the original program to ensure we can still provide an outdoor fitness adventure of some variety on that day.
  • Should we have to cancel the adventure due to poor weather conditions, you will be advised by text and email the evening before. Should this occur, alternative arrangements for another date and/or refund will be made.
