Kosciuszko Explore Fitness Adventure
Two Peaks, One Pass & the Hut at the End of the Track
5 days, 4 nights
Step into the alpine air and discover the raw beauty of Kosciuszko National Park on this challenging, yet achievable hiking adventure designed exclusively for women.
Over five unforgettable days, we summit Mt Townsend (Australia’s second highest peak), stopping at Mt Kosciuszko (Australia’s highest peak) along the way. We also hike through snow gum country to the remote Cascade Hut and cross the iconic swing bridge between Guthega and Charlotte Pass.
It’s a day pack only hike and each night, we return to our Jindabyne lodgings for hot showers, warm comfy beds, and hearty dinners.
This adventure is part of our collection of women’s walking and hiking holidays in Australia – immersive, multi-day experiences designed to help you build strength, confidence, and connection through hiking.
While this hike is best suited to those with moderate or above fitness levels, it’s not a race to the top. It’s a journey of strength, stories and the shared joy of walking in wild places.

But the real highlight is reaching Mt Townsend, Australia’s second highest and arguably more spectacular summit. Expect sweeping ridgelines, wide skies, and a sense of achievement like no other.
We return to Jindabyne for a well earned meal and sleep.

Friday 27th February 2026
Cascade Hut Hiking
Another big day in the Snowy’s as we hike to Cascade Hut, a secluded hut deep in snow gum country.
It’s a gentler incline compared to yesterday, but still a solid hike. We stop for lunch at the hut and soak in the quiet beauty before retracing our steps.
There’s time for a refresh at our accommodation before dinner and a chance to reflect on the day.

Guthega to Charlotte Pass Hike
Today is our final hike and it is an out and back trail that forms part of the new Snowy’s Alpine Walk. This spectacular trail (the one you see in all the pictures) follows the Snowy River valley.
We cross Australia’s highest suspension bridge and wander through high alpine plains dotted with wildflowers.
Weary but exhilarated, we return to our accommodation for a relax and refresh before our Traditional Celebration Dinner and Awards Evening.

This is a MODERATE Plus multi day adventure.
As our hike is is an alpine location much of our hiking involves hills and distances.
Each day on this adventure is long – in distance and in time, so a good level of endurance and stamina is required.
A MODERATE Plus level of fitness is required.
What this means is:
- There are consecutive days hiking where we are out “all day”, so having a good level of endurance (the ability to be out hiking all day) is necessary
- The hiking consists of hills, and paths that are uneven underfoot. You need good balance & stability.
- A good level of cardio fitness is required – so being able to recover your breath after hiking hills; hiking up hills / stairs without stopping.
- Strength in your legs is required so that you can handle the distance over time.
- You will need to keep an average pace of 4km/hour over each and every day for the duration of the hikes.
- Alpine areas do require you to have the gear and equipment necessary for sudden weather changes. So carrying wet weather gear and thermals in your pack is required.

The Koscuiszko Explore Fitness Adventure is graded MODERATE Plus
The hiking is a strong moderate level with daily hikes ranging from 18-24km (3 consecutive days)
The terrain is always undulating – either ascending or descending.
One of the most common asked questions is “Will I be fit enough?”
As soon as you book into the Koscuiszko Explore Fitness Adventure you can get started with training.
Through booking into the adventure early and allowing time to train, those with a current introductory plus level of fitness will find this an achievable goal – provided you put in the training.
Here’s what you get:
- A FOUR MONTH hike training plan relevant to your adventure.
- A structured ONLINE Adventure Meeting that covers fitness motivation, gear & equipment, logistics and more. AND introduces you to the rest of the group.
- Access to the closed Kosciuszko Explore Fitness Adventure Facebook Group – which provides your fitness accountability.
Your ONLINE training program has been developed by Women’s Fitness Adventures, based on years of experience and qualifications in both the fitness industry and hiking in the outdoors.
By following (that is “doing”) our training programs and actively moving “toward” your adventure you will become Adventure Ready.

Consumables
- We encourage “no plastics” so bringing refillable water bottles, reusable cups and cutlery where applicable and using lunchboxes where plastic can be minimised

Minimal impact
- We have a “tread lightly” policy where we stay on known tracks and paths, minimising our impact to bush, plants and wildlife.
- Before we embark on an adventure or trail, we brief you on the flora, fauna and any other considerations that form the uniqueness of the environment so that you understand and appreciate the minimal impact approach.
Accommodation & Adventure Partners
- Where possible we partner with Eco Certified businesses who follow the same eco philosophies
- Our adventures have all the applicable National Park permits and licenses to operate (or International equivalents)
- Our “give back” policy also applies to the locations we stay – choosing local operators, businesses and townships where funds spent go directly to small business owners – doing our part to create sustainable communities.
