Hiking this truly remarkable location should be on everyone’s list.  Even though it is only 15km from the South Australian mainland, it feels a million miles away.

Our 6 night, 7 day  adventure sees us active each day and hiking approximately 62km in total. Highlights include The Remarkables (a stunning set of rocks perched atop the cliff in the Flinders Chase National Park), Stokes Bay (voted one of Australia’s most beautiful and SECRET) beaches, the gorgeous and oh so blue Hanson Bay.

Of course, we will most likely spot wildlife and weather dependant, the Spring Wildflowers.

At the end of each day, we return to shared cabin style accommodation and cooked meals. Time to rest and recharge for the day ahead.

An adventure to Kangaroo Island wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the local Gin Distillery for an after lunch tasting or the delightful Emu Bay Lavender Farm for morning tea where you can even taste Lavender Scones!

Hurry, places are limited so secure your spot now by completing the form.  If you are a Women’s Fitness Adventures Member, be sure to log in.

Later in the day we make our way to Cape de Couedic where we see the impressive and a bit smelly seal colony and the lighthouse area.

This is an INTRODUCTORY PLUSMODERATE multi day adventure.

There are NO technical difficulties on this trail but good endurance is essential. Regardless of our daily distances, we are out hiking ALL day. So a reasonable level of stamina is required.

A Good level of fitness is required due to:

  • there are consecutive days hiking where we are out ” all day”, so having a good level of endurance (the ability to be out hiking all day) is necessary
  • The hiking consists of uphill and downhill trails and even on some sand. Some trails may be uneven underfoot.
  • A good level of cardio fitness is required – so being able to recover your breath after hiking hills; hiking up hills/stairs without stopping every few moments.
  • Stability on legs is required so that you can handle the distance over time

From the moment you book on to the Kangaroo Island Fitness Adventure, you will begin to make new friends.

This can be either through the training, the closed Facebook Group, the online meetings or at other adventures.

Once your payment is confirmed, you will be invited into a closed Facebook Group Page that you have access to, where you can converse with your fellow hikers.

When we asked fellow adventurers what they like best about Women’s Fitness Adventures, here is what they had to say

“Friendships, broadening horizons and keeping fit” Debby.

“Sisterhood” Anne.

“Friendship, fun and camaraderie” Michelle.

Our multi day hikes are transformational. Some kind of “magic” happens with the group.

Here is what our members had to say about their different hiking adventures…

” For me the highlight was participating! I had been longing to do a multi day hike since joining Women’s Fitness Adventures 2 years ago. I jumped at the opportunity to take a risk and commit. Being physically able to complete the walk without too much difficulty was also a highlight. Having never done back to back walks I wasn’t sure if my legs would co-operate with my heart and mind! It just shows what can happen when you put one foot in front of the other and begin. 100km! “ Peta.

“It’s hard to describe the highlight …. as I enjoyed every moment of the hike – the scenery, the terrain, the smell of the bush, the crashing of the waves, the sand between my toes, the cold ocean water on my feet, the fauna, the flowers, the animals, the challenges, the company and friendships made on the hike”. Gail.

And on our adventures in general…

“Everyone of you made my adventure so inspiring. The support of each other made the trails so enjoyable. We hiked and we learnt so many new things along the way. The food, the drinks, the dress ups and laughter were so special. Every time I think of something that happened it makes me full of happiness. Thank you to each one of my fellow adventurers for a wonderful experience to remember for ever. Looking forward to many more adventures in the future” Margaret.

Our Kangaroo Island Fitness Adventure is graded Intro Plus – Moderate.

The hiking is varied with daily hikes ranging from 4-20km. The terrain is undulating and there are regular ascents and descents. And sand walking.

One of the most common asked questions is ” Will I be fit enough? As soon as you book your Multi Day Adventure, you can get started with training.

Through booking into the adventure early and allowing time to train, those with an introductory plus level of fitness will find this an achievable goal – provided you put in the training.

Here’s what you get:

  • Four months BEFORE departure you will receive  hike training plan relevant to your adventure.
  • An ONLINE Group Adventure meeting (Ready, Set, Go) that details your training, gear & equipment and checks in on your status.

In person Group Hike Training an optional extra for participants based in South East Qld. The link to purchase the sessions will be made available to you once your booking is confirmed.

By following (that is “doing”) our training programs and actively moving “toward” your adventure you will become Adventure Ready.

The training programs have been developed by Women’s Fitness Adventures, based on many decades of experience and qualifications in both the fitness industry and hiking in the outdoors.

  • Sustainable Adventures

Our fabulous adventures allow you to create memories and friendships that last a lifetime. At Women’s Fitness Adventures we are also committed to sustainable adventures so that the places and spaces we go will also last well beyond our lifetime and the many generations to follow. Sustainability starts when you join our community and never ends.

We are committed to the principles of minimal impact, leave no trace, tread lightly  and give back to the local community. Here’s how we do that for all of our adventures (short and long)

    • We encourage “no plastics” so bringing refillable water bottles, reusable cups and cutlery where applicable and using lunchboxes where plastic can be minimised
    • It’s a leave no trace principle, so all food scraps, toilet waste and rubbish items are carried out. (See our Masterclass on Toileting for the Trail)
    • We are committed to reducing paper waste inside our organisation and have implemented  a paperless booking system.

    • We encourage the use of public transport or car pooling to minimise the use of motor vehicles.
    • When flying, we encourage you to offset your emissions by purchasing carbon offsets.

    Minimal impact

    • We have a “tread lightly” policy where we stay on known tracks and paths, minimising our impact to bush, plants and wildlife.
    • Before we embark on an adventure or trail, we brief you on the flora, fauna and any other considerations that form the uniqueness of the environment so that you understand and appreciate the minimal impact approach.

    Accommodation & Adventure Partners

    • Where possible we partner with fellow Eco Certified businesses who follow the same eco philosophies
    • Our destinations are all pre arranged and when we camp we do so in designated campsites.
    • Our adventures have all the applicable National Park permits and licenses to operate.
    • Our “give back” policy also applies to the locations we stay – choosing local operators, businesses and townships where funds spent go directly to small business owners – doing our part to create sustainable communities.

Here Is What Other Women Say About Our Adventures

“What I like best about Women’s Fitness Adventures is having the opportunity to visit beautiful places in Australia and the world with a group of like minded ladies who love to exercise in the outdoors. I don’t have to organise anything on the adventure but enjoy the location, culture, food and wine in the company of supportive and inspiring women”

Jane Augustine, March 2019

“What’s the best thing about a Women’s Fitness Adventure? Where to start… In hindsight the highlight was definitely the company and fun times with the other women. Support and laughs along the trails and the hilarity of the dinners”

Sharon Donsky. May 2019
