Introductory Back to Back Training Weekend – 22nd -24th February 2019

Join us for a fabulous, weekend of adventure.

This weekend is designed to give you the opportunity to hike 2 days consecutively.

You can try out your equipment, build your fitness and learn the skills required for a Multi-Day adventure whilst exploring the Beautiful Scenic Rim.

SUMMARY

This fabulous adventure weekend is designed as an Introduction to Back to Back hiking.

We have carefully selected a series of hikes designed to:

  • provide skills and tips for hiking consecutive days
  • Build endurance by hiking consecutive days
  • Build fitness by hiking consecutive days
  • Gain confidence to take the next step towards an extended/multi day adventure

Our Introductory Back to Back training weekend is held in the Scenic Rim with shared cabin accommodation.

It is fully hosted by your Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W Leader and a local Professional Wilderness Guide.

It is a SELF CATERING weekend, so we ask that everyone brings a plate or two of food to share – we will coordinate.

You are also required to bring your own bedding. That can be sleeping bag or sheets and a quilt.

 

ITINERARY

Friday 22nd February 

Arrive at your leisure on Friday afternoon/evening and relax on the verandah as you meet your fellow hikers.

A light supper/nibbles will be held when all hikers have arrived.

Saturday 23rd February

Our hike today is about 6 hours return with an option for swimming.

After breakfast we begin our hike. There is a short, sharp hill to start, however before long it is over and we continue with easy walking along valley floor through a variety of habitats.

There are a number of creek crossings along the way and depending on the water levels, these can either be easily navigated or you can take your shoes off and wear some water shoes.

At the “turnoff” we have a 15min rockhop leading to a spectacular cascading waterfall where we stop for a swim and lunch.

After lunch, we return the way we came, stopping to cool our feet as needed, before returning to our cabin accommodation mid- late afternoon.

Sunday 24th February

Our hike today is also about 6 hours.

The trail is undulating and is well graded through open Sclerophyll forest with opportunities to spot endangered Glossy Black Cockatoos.

Our hike takes us up to Mt Barney Creek, where we cross and head upstream for an optional swim in the most amazing 50m long waterhole with 30m cliffs plunging down into some of the crispest water around.

If you do not wish to swim, simply sitting on the edge and dangling your feet is the perfect alternative.

FAQ`s

Do I need any special gear?

You don’t need any special gear.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide you with a packing list.

The most important thing is your hiking clothes and shoes. If you have hiking boots, great. If not, sandshoes will be fine.

It is a SELF CATER weekend, so we ask that you bring a plate of food to share. We will co-ordinate this closer to the date.

You also need to supply your own bedding – sleeping bag or sheets and quilt will suffice.

What level of fitness do I need?

This is an introductory hiking weekend.

You will need to have a degree of fitness. Please refer to our chart on how to determine your level of fitness if you are unsure.

The terrain is varied and is undulating at times.

All hiking trails are well marked and graded.

The intention of the weekend is to build confidence for consecutive days hiking.

Can I come alone?

Of course! Many of our adventurers start out not knowing anyone. By the end of the weekend, you would think everyone has been friends for years

Where are the sessions held?

The Introductory Back to Back Training Weekend is held in the Scenic Rim in Mt Barney National Park.  The exact location will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your payment.

What if it is raining?

We will endeavour to conduct the sessions in all weather conditions. Should there be a severe weather event and we need to cancel, we will advise by email and text as soon as we know.

Payment for Intro Introductory Back to Back Training Weekend is final once you receive a confirmation email.

Cancellations before January 31st 2019 will incur a 25% admin fee.

No refunds or transfers are given for cancellations after February 1 2019.

Are there any special booking terms and conditions?

Once we have received your payment, you will receive an email within 48 hours confirming your place. Should you wish to cancel for any reason, prior to January 31 2019,  a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Strictly NO refunds or transfers will be given after February 1st should you be unable to attend or cancel for any reason
