Join us for a fabulous, adventure filled weekend.

This weekend is designed to give you the opportunity to hike 2 days consecutively.

You can fine tune your equipment and boost your fitness in a safe and supportive environment in a spectacular setting.

Arriving Friday night at your leisure, there are two consecutive day hikes – Saturday and Sunday.

Hike 1

It is a peak hike, with some steep sections where the track zigzags alongside the rabbit proof fence.

There is also a rocky section where we pick our way through an obvious break to reach the top before we find the cliff break and ascended the final stretch.

With tree cover on the top there is the opportunity for window like views through the vegetation. The descent will be via the same ridge allowing you to enjoy the rainforest more as you are not puffing as much when descending.

 

Hike 2

Today is a great opportunity to focus on endurance as we take on a long 25km hike.

It is relatively flat, with a few twists and turns with the focus is on endurance – learning the right amount of water to take, how frequently to stop, food and sustenance. As well as backing up from the previous days hike.

We also take in the picturesque scenery.

SUMMARY

This fabulous adventure weekend is designed for those with a moderate level of fitness seeking back to back training to improve cardio, endurance and overall hiking skills.

We have carefully selected a series of hikes designed to:

  • provide skills and tips for hiking consecutive days
  • Build endurance by hiking consecutive days
  • Build fitness by hiking consecutive days
  • Gain confidence to take the next step towards an extended/multi day adventure

Our Moderate Back to Back training weekend is held in the Scenic Rim with shared cabin accommodation.

It is fully hosted by your Women’s Fitness Adventures C.R.E.W Leader and a local Professional Wilderness Guide.

It is a SELF CATERING weekend and we will provide a handy guide around the type/style of food to bring. Kitchen facilities are available in our cabin.

You are also required to bring your own bedding. That can be sleeping bag or sheets and a quilt.

 

ITINERARY

Friday 25th October

Arrive at your leisure on Friday afternoon/evening and relax on the verandah as you meet your fellow hikers.

A light supper/nibbles will be held when all hikers have arrived.

Saturday 26th October

After breakfast we transfer to our first hike.

It is a peak hike, with some steep sections where the track zigzags alongside the rabbit proof fence.

Hiking time is approximately 5- 6 hours, depending on the pace of the group.

Sunday 27th October

Our hike today is long with a focus on endurance.

Today is a great opportunity to focus on endurance as we take on a long 25km hike.

It is relatively flat, with a few twists and turns however the focus is on endurance – learning the right amount of water to take, how frequently to stop, food and sustenance.  We also take in the picturesque scenery.

Hiking time: approx 6 hours depending upon the pace of the group

*note the itinerary may need to vary depending on track conditions at the time. If a change needs to be made, an equivalent track will be substituted.

FAQ`s

Do I need any special gear?

You don’t need any special gear.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide you with a packing list.

The most important thing is your hiking clothes and shoes. If you have hiking boots, great. If not, sandshoes will be fine.

It is a SELF CATER weekend, so we ask that you bring  your own food. Details will be provided in the gear list.

You also need to supply your own bedding – sleeping bag or sheets and quilt will suffice.

What level of fitness do I need?

This is a moderate hiking weekend.

You will need to have a moderate degree of fitness. Please refer to our chart on how to determine your level of fitness if you are unsure.

The terrain is varied and can be steep and scrambly at times.

The intention of the weekend is to improve endurance, stamina and hiking skills over consecutive days.

Can I come alone?

Of course! Many of our adventurers start out not knowing anyone. By the end of the weekend, you would think everyone has been friends for years

Where are the sessions held?

The Moderate Back to Back Training Weekend is held in the Scenic Rim and our accommodation is at Mt Barney Lodge in shared cabin/dorm style accommodation.  Further details will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your payment.

What if it is raining?

We will endeavour to conduct the sessions in all weather conditions. Should there be a severe weather event and we need to cancel, we will advise by email and text as soon as we know.

Payment for Intro Moderate Back to Back Training Weekend is final once you receive a confirmation email.

Cancellations after September 25th will incur a 25% admin fee.

No refunds or transfers are given for cancellations after September 25 2019.

Are there any special booking terms and conditions?

Once we have received your payment, you will receive an email within 48 hours confirming your place. Should you wish to cancel for any reason, prior to September 25th 2019  a refund will be given, less a 25% administration fee. Strictly NO refunds or transfers will be given after September 25th 2019 should you be unable to attend or cancel for any reason
