This week at Women’s Fitness Adventures we are doing some serious mythbusting!

Myth #1 – You can only participate in our activities during the week. At Women’s Fitness Adventures we run our hikes, fitness and training programs, kayaking, social events and other activities across the entire week. If you work full time then there are many options available to you including Friday night walks, Saturday hikes and/or training sessions, and Sunday morning social walks. Take a look at the website to see what’s available.

Myth #2 – You have to be fit to join Women’s Fitness Adventures. Our members have a range of fitness abilities from beginner through to advanced. Indeed many of our members joined just to get fit and then found that were many other women just like them. With that sort of support our ladies are becoming fitter, stronger, and more confident, all in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Some members who work full time say that the Friday Night City Lights walks are a perfect way to unwind at the end the working week. It’s social too, and many new friendships have been made on these walks.

Myth #3 – You have to know about hiking to become a member.

You don’t need to have hiked before to join us at Women’s Fitness Adventures. We offer a wide range of introductory programs that cater specifically to women who have little or no experience hiking. We can take you through the stages needed to start out properly, help you with your training, as well as provide advice about what to look for in hiking boots and other clothing, how to use hiking poles and much more. Our members are always happy to help out to, and their real life practical advice – what worked (or didn’t work) for them is invaluable because they’ve been through exactly the same experiences.

Myth #4 – Women’s Fitness Adventures is a ‘hiking only’ group. At Women’s Fitness Adventures we don’t just do hiking – we offer a variety of outdoor adventures. From social walks that explore our city to adventures that include cycling and paddle boarding; from half day trips discovering local flora, birds and wildlife to long walks along the beaches of the Gold Coast; from multi-day treks interstate and overseas to kayaking for beginners and the more advanced, there is something of interest for everyone. We host social events, information evenings, and participate in special one off events too – like Stadium Stomp – an epic stair climbing challenge held annually at the Gabba. We’re always adding new adventures to the website so take a look and see what interests you.

Myth #5 – I’m too old.

You’re never too old to try something new and at Women’s Fitness Adventures you’ll meet ladies of all ages who have done just that. Some members are retired or semi-retired, many work full time or part time, and everyone has commitments but what they all have in common is a desire to enjoy life, get fitter and healthier, make new friends and try new experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
